The Association of Private Security Owners of South Africa(TAPSOSA) is encouraged by governments effort to restore peace and order in the areas that saw unprecedented levels of lawlessness and violence.
The level of anarchy that took place in the past few days demonstrates the need for better collaboration amongst all law enforcement agencies including the private security in proactively tackling opportunistic crime incidences that sporadically finds an expression now and then.
As the private security industry which has the intelligence and expertise including over 500 000 trained and registered security officers, we believe that we have a fundamental role to play in assisting the law enforcement agencies to constantly assess security threats and vulnerability in the country.
This is the reason TAPSOSA has always advocated for better collaboration with the police in crime intelligence and prevention strategies. In collaboration with law enforcement agencies, the public disobedience, violence, and looting are now carefully monitored, and the crime intelligence gathered is used to safeguard our communities and businesses. All the stakeholders have been on high alert and ready to respond within seconds to hotspots and suppress violence and looting.
